Touch-Free or No-Touch Cleaning Machines
One of the cleaning technologies we use in Utah includes No-Touch Cleaning Machines. These are specialized, all-in-one cleaning carts designed with a spray gun and either a squeegee or vacuum, to thoroughly remove contaminants without having to touch any surface. Traditional cleaning methods use a spray bottle and rag, or a mop and bucket system to clean a facility, which only spreads contaminants or dirty water around rather than removing them. Janitorial workers are also forced to get on their hands and knees to clean contaminated surfaces by hand causing physical strain. Touch-free cleaning machines, on the other hand, clean better, up to 60 times better than mops, increases productivity, and eliminates the need for other equipment, all without having to touch any contaminated surfaces.
How does it work? A spray and vacuum or squeegee system does exactly what it says. A low pressure spray gun is used to spray the surface with the proper ratio of water and cleaning solution then rinses the area with fresh clean water. The vacuum or squeegee then suctions up any solution/dirty water along with contaminants. The system has a clean water tank and a recovery tank, for dumping out dirty water and contaminants when the job is done. Any type of cleaning solutions, green or not, can be used with these machines.
Vapor Steam Cleaning
Vapor steam cleaning is an eco-friendly technology we use in Utah, and it uses pressure and high water temperatures to clean and sanitize floors. The high heat (240-360 degrees) kills germs on contact while lifting the dirt from its surface so it can be wiped or vacuumed. This process is all done with water, no harsh chemicals and leaves little moisture, meaning it almost dries on contact. Vapor steam cleaning is a great option when working around people with weakened immune systems and high allergies.
Microfiber is a lint-free, non-abrasive, and hypoallergenic material allowing a worker to clean without the use of chemicals.Unlike traditional cleaning products that push or smear dirt and grime, microfiber gets underneath the dirt and germs, lifting and trapping them until the cloth or mop is laundered. Many cleaning companies use colored microfiber to differentiate between specific areas or tasks. This color coded process helps prevent cross-contamination, reducing the transferring of bacteria from particular area to another. One example could be that all high contaminated areas such as the toilet use red cloths and low contaminated areas such as mirrors use blue cloths. UV-C is the only germicidal wavelength. Chemical-free, odor-free UV-C lights consistently kill 99.9% of germs, allergens, and odor causing bacteria by breaking apart its DNA. Why does that matter? When an organism’s DNA is broken or destroyed, it cannot reproduce causing it to die.
When it comes to detecting cleanliness, ultraviolet marking pens can be used to mark surfaces with invisible ink which fluoresce under a black light but disappear once cleaned.
ATP stands for Adenosine Triphosphate, an enzyme existing in all living cells. An ATP meter or test detects how much ATP still remains on a surface after it has been cleaned. The higher the measurement on the meter, the more contaminants on the surface. This is really useful tool for providing a “before” and “after” measurement to your customers and staff proving that a surface has been effectively cleaned.
